Rob Kaplan | director

Rob graduated with a First Degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics. Then he decided what he really wanted to do. He wanted to direct.

He began his media career as a TV researcher on documentaries with the BBC in London. Rising swiftly through the ranks to assistant producer (and often as director) he specialised in human-interest observational stories. Over the following ten years, he broadened his experience, developing key roles on major acclaimed programme strands such as Modern Times,
Cutting Edge and Top Gear.

Rob, being fascinated by the world of commercials developed an idea he had earlier had for Wrangler Jeans, which was picked up by producer Olly Ravaux at X-Films. The project went on to win the CPFE ‘New Director’ award at Cannes in 2002 and was short-listed in the Saatchi & Saatchi ‘New Director Showcase’ at Cannes. Subsequently, he was listed one of the ‘Top Ten Talent To Watch Worldwide’ in 2003 in Boards International magazine.

His high-profile viral campaign for Mates Condoms was awarded ‘runner-up’ in the inaugural Viral Awards in London 2004.

His credits include commercials for Coca-Cola, Tuborg, Rover, Nytol, News Of The World, Hyundai and Wrangler. His latest music-video for Danii Minogue’s hit single ‘Perfection’ is just out
